Musical Associates is a select group of singers and instrumentalists, dedicated to bringing the finest in choral music to music lovers in the Susquehanna Valley. Under the direction of Artistic Director Emery DeWitt, the singers and instrumentalists include many of the area’s top soloists. Please join us for for our summer concerts - Saturday, August 24 at Lancaster Church of the Brethren (as part of the Starlight Tea Concert Series) and Sunday, September 8, at First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster (as part of their Upstairs/Downstairs Concert Series).
This year, we present a program inspired by William Shakespeare’s great Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds. This stirring declaration of love has inspired many people over the centuries, and we have chosen an eclectic set of music that explores that marriage. Be sure to check out our Repertoire page for more details of the program.
Admission to our concerts is free, with a free-will offering taken. Please join us for a wonderful musical event!
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
– William Shakespeare
